Computer software includes programs or applications stored in a computer system. Some experts argue that files that are inputted in a computer system or files produced by a program do not include software, for example, documents from word processors. But some others argue that software is all data stored on a computer including programs and files.
Software must be installed first in a computer system before it can be used. Software can be obtained in the form of disks that are purchased from computer retail stores or downloaded via the internet. Just like hardware, software also needs care and maintenance. The trick is to periodically update the software. This update functions to find errors or bugs in the software system and fix them.
Software damage is usually systematic but this damage is not affected by software age. Unlike hardware that is getting older then the hardware will turn out to be obsolete and more easily damaged. But please note if the software used is an old version then there is a possibility that version is no longer supported by the software provider. In other words there is no update that is compatible with the old version. This can result in the appearance of bugs in the software and reduce software performance in doing the task.
Software cannot be touched in real time, but its performance can be felt and witnessed. The level of performance can also be regulated through the programming language so that human users or people who operate computers can interact more efficiently with hardware. So in conclusion, understanding software is a logic device in a computer system.
